If you live in the Helensburgh area, and have an interest in photography, then why not come along to our club to find out what it's all about? Our members range from absolute beginners to seasoned photographers, and cover a wide range of styles and interests. You don't need to own the latest and most expensive camera equipment to take part - even the cheapest point-and-shoot camera is capable of taking great photos. If you don't own a camera at all, there's still a lot to see and learn, and you certainly don't need any equipment to be able to appreciate good photography!

What is on the website?

Take some time to browse around the website and you'll find information about the club, tips about photography and image editing, details of club events past, present and future, as well as lots of images produced by club members. The site is constantly changing, and more pictures and information are added frequently, so it's worth visiting often.

The HPC website is now 'piclens' compatible

Piclens is an exciting new browser plugin that offers a unique way of navigating through large numbers of images on a website. The HPC website has just been made 'piclens compatible'. More instructions will be posted on the website soon, but in the meantime here's how to access this great new feature: 1) Go to www.piclens.com, select the download link and follow the instructions. 2) Restart your browser. You should see a new icon in your browser that looks like a 'wall of photos'. 3) Navigate back to the HPC website. The new icon should turn blue. 4) Click on the icon and enjoy a great new way of browsing photos posted by club members...

So, what do we do at the club?

The club season runs from September to April each year. During that period we meet each Tuesday evening at the Helensburgh Lawn Tennis club - see here for how to find us. Each season we have a varied programme of events, which includes presentations from visiting experts, tutorials, hands-on sessions, social events and of course competitions. There are also various informal outings where groups of members head out in search of the next great photograph.

Weather Forecast
Tide Tables

The west coast of Scotland is a fantastic place to practise photography - we have stunning scenery, varied wildlife, some great sunsets, great architecture and many interesting characters to capture. The club is a great way to meet and exchange ideas with people that share a keen interest in photography. If you are thinking of heading out to do some outdoor photography in the local area, you can review the weather and tides in the box to the right.
